From 2020-2022 the DMS was involved in various Public Engagement activities, such as organizing public interest cultural initiatives to foster inclusion, overcome inequalities, and achieve gender equality, including:
Departmental Third Mission project “Medicina Arte: Scarpe rosse alla Sapienza” (Red Shoes at Sapienza). The principal aim of this project is to use art as a vehicle to disseminate awareness against gender-based violence, with the goal of creating a discussion forum among students, university, middle/high school teachers, and citizens on the theme of violence against women. This initiative involved experts in the sector such as the Differenza Donna Association, artists, and activists. Third Mission project “ANIMA BELLA” for the prevention of gambling addiction, in collaboration with Italia Nostra, Cineteca Bologna, ASL of Viterbo, provincial ACLI of Viterbo and Rieti, and the Faculty of Psychology and Medicine;
Gruppo Orientamento Nutrizione Giovani (GONG ) (Youth Nutrition Orientation Group), which aimed to provide young people with guidelines for proper nutrition (https://web.uniroma1.it/dip_dms/scienza-alimentazione/gong);
